What is greeNest?
greeNest is an organization based in Winston-Salem that assists local individuals and families that are transitioning from homelessness or temporary housing as they settle into their new permanent living space, by helping them furnish their home at a deep discount. These individuals come to greeNest as referrals from over 100 local partner agencies and are treated with dignity and respect. Because everyone deserves to know what home feels like.
Sounds great! What can I do?
The main way that you can contribute here at Brouwerij DuBois is to purchase a special-edition “Feels Like Home” kit that features a limited run t-shirt, a corresponding glass jar mug, and a fill of your choice on tap. All of this for $40, and the proceeds go directly to greeNest. This kit will be available beginning on Sunday March 10 during our Feels Like Home Launch Party and continue until we sell out all 144 available kits or until Sunday April 7 when the campaign ends. What’s March Mattress?
Well, glad you asked! We will be holding a college men’s basketball tournament bracket challenge this year with proceeds benefitting greeNest. Each entry is just $10 and individuals can enter up to 4 brackets. Bracket entries are due by Wednesday night 3/20 at 9 PM when Brouwerij DuBois closes. Payment is due at that time as well, cash only.
The winner of the bracket challenge will receive 50% of the pool, and greeNest will receive the other 50% for their Up Off The Floor program. Brackets will be submitted digitally at the link below.
How is Brouwerij DuBois helping?
Pint nights are great. Sell a pint and a dollar of that sale supports the local organization. But that just feels transactional, not intentional. We want to help, so we are going deeper. Feels Like Home is a month-long campaign to help raise awareness, funds, donations, and engagement for greeNest from our guests. So we are holding four separate donation drives, selling a special edition package featuring a glass with a fill and a t-shirt with proceeds benefitting greeNest, incorporating a fundraising opportunity into our basketball bracket challenge, and even putting together a team of volunteers to go work at greeNest!
Can we also donate specific items?
Yes! Brouwerij DuBois will serve as an official donation location on four different dates in March:
Sunday March 10 - Feels Like Home Launch Party
Thursday March 14 - Nest Night #1
Thursday March 21 - Nest Night #2
Thursday March 28 - Nest Night #3
