Make + Take: Sourdough Bread

Maggie from Wild + Woven Farm in Kernersville will lead you through the process of making your own loaf of sourdough bread. Plus, you can purchase your own sourdough starter to take with you if you want to go all the way down the rabbit hole on your own.

Holiday Wines was launched last Fall by Winston-Salem residents McCabe and Keirnan Calloway after a vacation to Europe, where they fell in love with the sparkling wine spritzers available throughout the Mediterranean region. Sparkling sauvignon blanc with natural fruit and herbal flavor infusions, all three of their offerings are bright, refreshing, and keep you coming back. Now that the weather is warming up and pool days or patio afternoons are in sight, it’s time to give these delicacies a try.

Stop by on Wednesday April 17 to meet the Calloways and try all three Holiday Wines in a flight for just $10. And when you fall in love, grab a bottle of your favorite to go!

Make + Take: Goat Milk Soap

Sometimes making things yourself, by hand, is more rewarding than getting free two-day shipping on something made in a factory. Remember when grandma made things herself for the family? That’s the premise behind our Make + Take event series. Learn from a local maker about how to hand craft things we use every day, do it yourself, and take it with you, plus enjoy a drink while you’re doing it.

This month, we are welcoming Christina from Dragonfly Farm to walk through the process of making soap with goat milk. Learn all about the various means of creating a bar of soap, then pick your scent and pour one of your own. Christina will also discuss life on the farm in Pfafftown, the ins and outs of raising goats, and more behind-the-scenes insights while the bars set up. If you’ve ever wondered about how to make soap at home, this is a great introduction!

$20 per person

Each guest receives:

Access to the session and all necessary materials
One 3 oz bar of soap to take home
One drink of their choice from the bar (glass of wine, full pour of beer, or mimosa)

There are only 12 spaces available, and the session will begin promptly at 1 PM. Sign up by stopping by the taproom, by emailing jordan@brouwerijdubois.com, or by sending our Instagram page a direct message.

Game Night: Splendor!
Jan

Game Night: Splendor!

Nothing is better than settling in with family and friends and playing a board game. No screens, just the people and the game in front of you. If you’re like us, it ends up being the same classic games: Yahtzee, Clue, Connect 4… you get the idea. But the world of board games is constantly expanding, and there are amazing options that you may not have played yet.

So our friends Bradley and Kelsie Burgess are setting out to introduce you to new games that are easy to learn and fun to play. This month, we are playing Splendor. Imagine you are a Renaissance merchant working to build up your standing in a hierarchical society. Collect gems, use those gems to buy contracts that net more gems, then build up to better contracts to increase your prestige. This attracts nobles into your circle, which in turn, increases your prestige even more. It’s a race to 15 prestige points, but don’t forget to keep an eye on what your fellow merchants are doing. Maybe you can thwart them along the way!

How does game night at Brouwerij DuBois work?

Sign up for either the 6:30 or 7:30 PM shift. Your group will get a table with the game for one hour, which is long enough to play roughly 2 times through the game. All you have to do is message us on Instagram or stop by the taproom to snag a spot for your group. There are four tables available at 6;30 and four tables available at 7:30.

It is completely free to reserve a table, and we provide the game for you to play. Up to four players can be at one table, and the game is suitable for ages 10 and up.

We hope you’ll join us!
