When former Tennessee Titans Running Back Chris Johnson announced last month that he was diagnosed with ALS and has deteriorated quickly, we immediately noticed that the Ice Bucket Challenge to fuel ALS research was beginning to trend again on social media. And of course, we want to help.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is simple: make a donation to ALS research, challenge three others to do the same, and then dump a bucket of ice water on yourself. The viral challenge took the world by storm back in 2014, raising millions for research into this uncurable disease. But while the challenge faded away, ALS never did. We are still fighting for a cure.
So it’s back and we are hosting a community Ice Bucket Challenge event from 3 PM until around 4 PM or so on Sunday July 26.
Want to participate? There are two ways:
1) Take the Ice Bucket Challenge:
Just show up around 3 PM at BD with a towel and change of clothes, your phone, a donation (cash or you can do it online yourself), and a list of three folks you want to challenge. That’s it. We will provide the bucket, the ice water, and we will take your video for you. It’s as easy as can be, and there will be a crowd cheering you on!
2) Support the Cause Without Getting Cold and Wet:
You’ve got options here. You can simple go online here and donate to the cause. Easy. You can also show up to BD on Sunday to cheer on those that are taking the challenge. At BD, you can make a cash donation, and we will send that along. Either way, you can help make an impact.
Either way, we hope to see you on Sunday at Brouwerij DuBois as we make a group effort to combat this terrible disease!
